League Rules

Leagues at TimberBeast are sanctioned by the World Axe Throwing League, or WATL.

League sign-ups and scoring are individual, not team-based.

Leagues run for 8 weeks and are at same time and day each week.

The maximum number of players for league is 60 players.

Participants are welcome to bring their own axe, as long as it meets the WATL standards that can be found HERE. Before each league night begins, the axe will need to be weighed and measured to ensure it meets these standards.

The first hour of league night is for practicing and signing in. Each participant will get 10 practice throws, and is then cycled to the back of the line. Practice is not mandatory.

Each week, participants will play in 4 matches. Each match is 10 throws, equaling 40 throws each week.

In each season, there are 7 weeks of regular matches. The 8th week is a tournament to finish up the season.

Participants are able to miss up to 2 weeks total for the season. These weeks are able to be made up through week 7. If a participant misses more than 2 weeks, they will not be eligible for the tournament in week 8.

Every league participant will qualify for the tournament in week 8 as long as they do not miss more than 2 weeks.

– Week 8 is a playoff to determine the champion in a double elimination bracket.

Double elimination means that each person has to lose twice. After losing the first game, players drop into the underdog bracket for final placement.

The winner of the underdog bracket goes to the final round with the winner of the winner’s bracket.
